This collection contains materials related to an exhibition entitled "Similar Differences" that was mounted in Donnelley and Lee Library at Lake Forest College from January-February 1997. The photographs in the exhibition were loaned to the College from both the Coastal Arts League in Half Moon Bay, California and the Quay Arts Centre on the Isle of Wight.

Materials in the collection include correspondence regarding the exhibit, photographs and negatives taken of the exhibit, and photographer biographies and artist statements sent to the College by both the Coastal Arts League and Quay Arts Centre for the exhibit.

These travel diaries are written by Jean Brown. The diaries contain handwritten entries recording Brown's daily life while traveling in South Africa and later Micronesia.

Both diaries contain other materials including postcards, tourist maps, hotel memorabilia, various brochures and guides, newspaper and magazine clippings and photographs.

This collection contains various Caxton Club materials. These include constitution and by-law records, meeting minutes, directories and other member documents, correspondence, Publication Committee records and program invitations. It also includes a small amount of Caxtonian newsletters published in the mid 1990s and materials related to the Caxton Club’s Centennial celebration.

Jane Sloan Collection

This collection includes copies of published poems by Sloan, as well as unpublished drafts of her poetry. Also contained in the collection are "Pen-mark" newsletters from the Palo Alto branch of the National League of American PEN Women. In addition, there is a small book containing quotes that have been handwritten.

The collection documents Lake Forest estates and major features as they appeared prior to 1980. At the heart of the collection are almost four hundred 8 x 10 black and white photographic prints by Paul Whiting, an architectural photographer who completed work for the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society, Susan Dart, and Gayle Dompke. There are also 38 prints (23 separate images) by James M. Karales, a New York based photographer for Look (1960-1971) until it ceased publication, and then a free-lance photographer after that.

The collection also includes files Mrs. Dompke created by Lake Forest address with many clippings, etc. and some photographs, as well, along with her records of the early days of the LF Preservation Foundation.

Janet Land Art Book

This collection contains an art book belonging to Janet Land (later Van der Eb). The cover features a blue and brown watercolor painting of the classical Greek statue, Athena Lemnia by Phidias.

The art book is divided into two separate sections from a class entitled Art 101. The first section is called "Art Through the Ages" and contains pictures of famous works of art, dating back to cave paintings. The second section, "Reading Notes Second Semester," as the name implies, contains Land's handwritten notes.

This collection holds the papers of the Lake Forest Improvement Trust. This organization formed in 1912 to redevelop Lake Forest’s central business district known as the Market Square. The materials given by Griffth Grant and Lackie, Realtors, Inc. covered the period of the planning, construction, and early operation of Market Square. The documents in this collection also consist of correspondence between Trustees and various groups of people, technical maps and drawings, formal contracts between Trustees and the building team, past images of Market Square and a number of reference and research papers/articles compiled by Shirley M. Paddock,Gordon M. Lackie of Griffth Grant and Lackie, Realtors, Inc., and past LFC archivist Arthur Miller on the planning of Market Square.
It should be noted that due to the fragile state of many of the donated materials, the collection mainly is made up of detailed B&W and color photocopies.

Trustees of Lake Forest Improvement Trust

The collection consists of photographs, correspondence (both original and photocopied versions), newspaper clippings, autographs, extensive travel scrapbooks and diaries, and various documents of biographical memorabilia detailing the lives of the Neltnor-Anthony family and then the life of the collector and family descendant, Edwin Asmann. Overall, the collection is a diverse assemblage, spanning over 100+ years of time, of a well-known West Chicago and also Lake Forest family and its preserved keepsakes.

The collection is split into four distinct series-
Series 1) Photographs of the Neltnor-Anthony and Asmann Familes (Box 1)
Series 2) Neltnor Family Papers (Box 2 and 3)
Series 3) Papers and Scrapbooks of Edwin Asmann (Box 3 and 4)
Series 4) 1883-1892 Travel Diaries of Oliver H. Perkins (a relation of Asmann’s second wife). (Box 5)

Lloyd Family Papers

The collection is an assortment of personal papers and non-book materials that were donated to the Lake Forest College Library by Marion Musser Lloyd, the wife of Glen Alfred Lloyd.

Overall, these personal papers show the different lives, accomplishments, and intellectual pursuits of the Lloyd family. The types of documents and materials within the collection include newspaper clippings, scrapbook pages, photographs and postcards, lists of books, course notes and academic papers, a Honorary degree, and the various pieces of documentation about the different social events attended and hosted by the Lloyd Family.
