The Institute's records include a collection of reports gathered from local sources, news clippings, and term papers about Chicago-area suburban communities. The clippings offer newspaper coverage of planning discussions and decisions not always indexed elsewhere. The suburban community files include student term papers assigned in Wood-Institute-related courses about individual communities and are listed here with other materials for those towns. These term papers may include such material as bibliographic references, data tables, zoning and land-use maps, and useful historical descriptions of community dynamics. Given that these term papers were researched and written from the early 1970s to the mid 1980s, some of the sources listed may no longer be accessible. The term papers are available for consultation by pre-arrangement at the Archives and Special Collections reading room. In every case, the names of the students and the instructor’s comments are removed for privacy purposes.
