This folder contains all papers relating to the discussion and reviews of the published works by Edward Apree- From Frigates to Flat-Tops (1953) and Lake Forest Illinois 1861-1961: History and Reminiscences (1963). The first item is a brochure announcing the Publication of From Frigates to Flat-Tops and provides quotes from a number of different reviewers especially Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd Jr., U.S.N. The second item is a cut out newspaper clipping of a review on From Frigates to Flat-Tops by Lucy Key Miller of the Chicago Tribune 1956. The third item is a newspaper article titled "Lake Forest's History Unfolds In New Book," and provides a summary on Apree and his work, but also his association with the Rotary Club to produce his latest book. Features large B&W images. The fourth item is small caption labeled "A History of Lake Forest" describing the book in the First Presbyterian Reporter. The fifth item is an article in the Lake Forest Academy student paper titled "Senior Master Publishes An Historical Documentray." It was published as Apree completed his 35th year on the faculty. The sixth item is Chicago Daily News article by Patricia Moore titled "The Lake Forest That Was and Is: A Diary of Events Big, Small." Several B&W pictures featured. The seventh item is a short bulletin cut-out of a newspaper stating that Apree will be signing books at the First National Bank of Lake Forest. The last item are two cut-out copies of Chicago Tribune article by Robert Cromie titled "Booksellers Gather for 64th Convention." A special congratulations is extended to the Lake Forest Rotary Club and Apree on the book and its publication.
